About us

Emily Levine is a Milan-based brand that celebrates a blend of traditional, old-world techniques through timeless silhouettes, unique objects and one-of-a-kind pieces. Using antique textiles and recycled materials are a key element across each collection. Many of the artisans we partner with are self-taught from various regions of India or Italy, either working from home or in small mostly female-run studios. With different regions specializing in specific crafts, each artisan's individual technique and hand quality varies, making every item slightly different.

Designed to endure and evolve over time, we aim to create feel good products that embrace craft and all of its distinctive qualities.

Meet the founder

Emily Levine was born and raised in NY and moved to Milan where she launched the brand with her first capsule of one-of-a-kind handbags sewn in her apartment. Using both hand block printed organic cottons and antique saris, these bags remain one of the brand’s signature styles. The brand has continued to evolve into a line of ready-to-wear and accessories.

Blockprints as Blueprints

Every season we create small batches of hand block printed pieces, a craft we hope to continue to support and honor by blending custom prints and archival revival blocks together. We partner with two female-run studios together using GOTS certified organic dyes for every fabric. This slow artisanal process of block printing is integral to the brand’s DNA. Block prints are our love language and we hope you enjoy learning the process behind the blocks just as much as we do.

We focus primarily on teak wooden blocks, where the skilled master carver will transfer the sketch outline and the remaining parts of the print on other block pieces. Each print varies in complexity, but since every color has its own block, every print has its own timeline. Development of each block to fabric print takes precision from eye-to-hand coordination. From start to finish, the development of these prints is just as beautiful as their end result.

Girls Club - Crochet

Crochet has been a part of the brand since its inception. We work with a women-led studio that started out with a team of two female artisans which have now expanded today into over 50 women in Gujarat, India, coming together to share stories while they work or create independently in the comfort of their own homes.
